Job Description

Role Purpose Fill in Medical Assistant/Certified Medical Assistant:

The Medical Assistant, Patient Care Services, assists in providing patient care. Must be flexible to work on an as needed basis. May be required to travel to sites where needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Identifies self as a Medical Assistant in all professional encounters.
2. Accurately collects and records vital signs and other pertinent patient information.
3. Assists medical providers and nurses in the examination and treatment of patients; assists with patient flow in department.
4. Demonstrates and understand sterile and aseptic techniques. Uses appropriate techniques in setting up or assisting with procedure.
5. Completes Laboratory and Medical Imaging requisitions, assists in the scheduling of procedures.
6. Assists medical provider with processing of diagnostic results.
7. Transports patients to other departments and acts as courier for specimens, x-rays, and/or medical records.
8. Administers medications by all routes excluding intravenous infusion. Demonstrates and understands administration techniques, recognizes and reports effects and side effects of medication, and instructs patient appropriately.
9. Collects and records accurate telephone information and relays it to medical provider or nurse in a timely manner.
10. Documents appropriate information in patient s medical record.
11. Respects and maintains confidentiality of all information.
12. Cleans, prepares, and autoclaves equipment and instruments in preparation for sterilizations per infection control policies and procedures.
13. Provides patient education only under the direction of medical provider or nurse.
14. Conforms to all Dean Medical Group policies and procedures.
15. Performs additional medical responsibilities assigned by provider, who supervises and assumes legal responsibility for these actions.
16. Attends in-services and continuing education programs. Attends and participates in department staff meetings.
17. Demonstrates knowledge of role in emergency situations.
18. Performs other duties as required.

Role Purpose Fill in Licensed Practical Nurse:

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for performing nursing procedures, administering medications, and assisting the physician with total patient care. Must be flexible to work on an as needed basis. May be required to travel to sites where needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Identifies self as a Licensed Practical Nurse in all professional encounters.
2. Accurately collects and records vital sign and other pertinent patient information.
3. Performs or assists with department procedures.
4. Demonstrates and understands sterile and aseptic techniques. Uses appropriate techniques in setting up or assisting with procedure.
5. Completes Laboratory and Medical Imaging requisitions, assists in the scheduling of procedures.
6. Assists medical provider with processing of diagnostic results.
7. Transports patient to other departments and acts a courier for specimens, x-rays, and/or medical records.
8. Administers medications by all routes excluding intravenous infusion. Demonstrates and understands administration techniques, recognizes and reports effects and side effects of medication, and instructs patient appropriately.
9. Screens telephone calls related to patient care
a. Obtains appropriate information with attention to detail and accuracy.
b. Uses set protocols/standing orders as resources to implement appropriate care.
c. Consults with an RN or medical provider regarding situations outside of established protocols.
10. Documents appropriate information in patient s medical record.
11. Respects and maintains confidentially of all patient information.
12. Depending upon clinic location and/or department, may be responsible for performing company accounts technician duties, which may include:
a. Completing chain of custody paperwork for urine drug screens
b. Acting as a liaison between contracted company and Dean Medical Group;
c. Performing specialized tests to include: pulmonary function testing; audio screening and breath alcohol testing.
13. Cleans, prepares, and autoclaves equipment and instructs in preparation for sterilization per infection control policies and procedures.
14. Reinforces the teaching protocols established by the RN or medical provider and provides basic health care instruction.
15. Conforms to all Dean Medical Group policies and procedures.
16. Performs delegated nursing or medical acts beyond basic nursing care under the direct supervision of the RN Medical provider.
17. Attends in-services and continuing education programs. Attends and participates in department staff meetings.
18. Demonstrates knowledge of role in emergency situations.
19. Performs other duties as required.

Role Purpose Fill In Paramedic:

The Fill In Paramedic is responsible for performing procedures, administering medications, and assisting the physician with total patient care in an ambulatory setting within the scope of the paramedic s practice. The Fill In Paramedic duties may include: taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, obtaining preliminary visit information, preparing patients for examination procedure, sterilization of medical instruments, administering medications and screening telephone calls related to patient care using set protocols and standing orders as resources and consulting with a RN or medical provider for situations outside of established protocols. The Fill In Paramedic may also act as a scribe by documenting (on behalf of the provider) all clinically relevant interaction and dialogue during the course of the patient visit.

1. Graduation from an approved school of Medical Assisting.
2. Must complete and pass the Proficiency Assessment delivered at the conclusion of the onboarding program.
3. Demonstrates flexibility to meet department needs on short notice.
4. Adapts easily to the workflow of the different departments
5. Available to work a flexible schedule on short notice.
6. Ability to work at least one shift in a 90 day period or as designated per department
7. Ability to travel to other sites as needed.

LPN Required:

1. State Licensure or eligible for State Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
2. Must complete and pass the Proficiency Assessment delivered at the conclusion of the onboarding program.
3. Demonstrates flexibility to meet department needs on short notice.
4. Adapts easily to the workflow of the different departments
5. Available to work a flexible schedule on short notice.
6. Ability to work at least one shift in a 90 day period or as designated per department
7. Ability to travel to other sites as needed.

Preferred:

1. Relevant experience.

Paramedic Required:

1. State licensure as a Paramedic.
